YOUTH TRIENNIUM Minimize

'

Attached you will find registration information related to the Presbyterian Youth Triennium, which will be held Tuesday, July 20-Saturday, July 24, on the campus of Purdue University in West Lafayette, IN.   The theme for this Triennium is "For Such a Time as This,” Esther 4:14.  Daily times of worship, small groups, prayer and recreation will encourage young people to be aware of their call to act as agents of healing, hope and holy transformation in the world and in the church.    Past participants hold up their experiences at Triennium as having a great impact on their lives.

You will find extensive information at www.presbyterianyouthtriennium.org, but here are some of the highlights as you consider whom to pass this information on to and what to share with each group.  Please read through this information and pass it on to the appropriate people in your congregation.

We have requested spaces for 78 persons, not including the Ambassadors; though we are able this year to take all youth who are interested and register before the deadline of Monday, February 22.

There are four groups of participants for this event and under each bullet point I have included what they need to do to register/apply to attend the 2010 Presbyterian Youth Triennium.  Items in bold are included in this mailing :

• Youth who are entering 9th grade in the fall through those who are 19 years of age on July 20, 2010 and involved in the life of a particular church in the presbytery.  Please share the Youth Registration Form and Triennium Information page with youth in your congregation.  Each youth who wants to attend Triennium needs to complete the form, including a parent’s signature and  church leadership’s endorsement and return it, along with a $250 deposit, to the Presbytery Office by Monday, February 22.  While this event is open to all youth who are active in the life of one of the congregations of our presbytery, I have also enclosed suggestions for identifying potential youth participants within your congregation.

• Adult Advisors who are at least 24 years of age on July 20, 2010, and involved in the life of a particular church in the presbytery and willing to care for, supervise and assume responsibility for youth in our delegation.   Please share the Adult Advisor Application Form, Triennium Information Page and Background Check pages with any interested adults.  The application form must be returned to the Presbytery office no later than February 1.

• Work Crew who are young adults from ages 19-22 on July 20, 2010, who wish to serve others as they help staff, leadership and participants with a variety of tasks.  These spaces are very limited.  Please encourage any young adults who might be interested in serving on the Triennium Work Crew to return the enclosed Work Crew Application as soon as possible to the email address at the bottom of the page.

• Ambassadors who are older adults at least 55 years of age who have a heart for the church and a delight for young people and would like to attend the Triennium and be teachers and students of young people.  Ambassadors will not be housed with the presbytery delegation, but may travel with it, if there is space available.  Please direct interested persons to the Triennium website.

To help you publicize this event and to help generate enthusiasm among your folks, copies of the DVD of the 2007 Presbyterian Youth Triennium may be borrowed.  I have a couple and the Resource Center has at least one.  Please contact Karen Robinson or me to borrow one.

My experience at previous Presbyterian Youth Trienniums has been very positive, both in terms of myself and as I have talked with youth and adult participants.  I hope you will get the word out to your youth so that we can take as many as are interested.

The website for the 2010 Presbyterian Youth Triennium is
www.presbyterianyouthtriennium.org.  I encourage you to check it out for more information.  If you have questions about the registration process or the event, you may contact me at 304-645-4568 or susan_sharp_campbell@hotmail.com.

I have listed the enclosed pages below for your easy reference.  Please help your youth and adults adhere to youth registration and adult application deadlines, noting that all deadlines are received by dates, not postmarked by dates.  Failure to have stuff in on time may result in participants not being able to attend.
