Clerks of Session received a letter outlining year-end information in mid-December. The letter includes information on covenant renewal for Temporary Supply Pastors, Commissioned Pastors and Lay Supply Pastors, including annual reports for Commissioned Pastors. All covenant renewals are due by January 25, 2019. Clerks of Session can also find the updated forms for Pastor’s Compensation and the Necrology Report; both reports are due January 31, 2019

The letter also has information about completing the Statistical Report. The report looks a bit different this year. Click here for the link to the Presbyterian Church (USA) website that includes Frequently Asked Questions.  The deadline for completing the report is February 14, 2019. The Presbytery office cannot change membership numbers; rather, church membership numbers are based on the successful completion of this report. Churches are responsible for completing the annual statistical report. The membership numbers reported to the General Assembly are the basis for each church’s Per Capita Assessment; the membership numbers reported for 2018 are the basis for the 2020 Per Capita Assessment.

The dates for 2019 Session Record Review events (reviewing 2018 minutes) have been set. Ed Thompson, Rocky Poole and Maureen Wright will host these events. Each gathering includes time for review of 2018 session minutes, treasurer talks, and an opportunity to share concerns with members of the Presbytery staff. Here are the dates, times, and locations.

  • March 10 – Kuhn Memorial, Barboursville @ 3 p.m.
  • March 20 – Beechwood, Parkersburg @ 6:30 p.m.
  • March 24 – First, South Charleston @ 3 p.m.
  • April 3 – Clifton, Maxwelton @ 6:30 p.m.
  • April 10 – First, Buckhannon @ 6:30 p.m.
  • April 28 – Bradley @ 3 p.m.
  • May 5 – Church of Our Saviour, Clarksburg @ 3 p.m.

The letter also includes an announcement of the requirement that each church is required to bring printed copies of the Manual of Administrative Operations, sexual misconduct policy, and child and youth protection policy. These copies will be added to each church’s office file.
