Are you interested in learning more about what it means to be Presbyterian – what we believe, why we do things the way we do? Are you interested in the possibility of becoming a Commissioned Pastor? Then Presby Prep is for you!
Presby Prep consists of 8 courses intended to enable all interested people to explore and learn more about Biblical Interpretation, Reformed Theology, Church History, Presbyterian Polity, Worship, Christian Education, Stewardship and Mission in the PCUSA tradition and practice. While signing up for all the courses is less expensive, participants can pick and choose which courses they wish to attend; however, for those who wish to continue in the ALP/CP preparation program, all courses are required.
All courses will be taught on Zoom, with two options to attend each month: 6:30-9:30 on a Thursday night or 9 AM-noon on a Saturday morning. Participants can choose each month which option works better for them.
Full information, including a snail mail registration, is in the Presby Prep brochure. Online registration is below. Registration is on a rolling deadline, although to complete the advance assignments, it will be most helpful to register at least 4 weeks in advance.
The final deadline to register for the 2022-2024 Authorized Lay Preacher/Commissioned Pastor Preparation Program, which began in January with Presby Prep, is Monday, June 6. Make-up courses for the first part of the year will begin on June 18 with Biblical Interpretation and will continue at various times in the summer that are yet to be determined depending on the schedules of those who need them. Advance assignments will be sent upon registration.
Cost is $10 per course or $50 for all.
