The 2021 Festival of Faith, a day of learning, worship, and fellowship, will be Saturday, March 20, from 9:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. on Zoom. Diana Butler Bass, an award-winning author and internationally-known public speaker and thought leader on issues of spirituality, religion, culture, and politics, will be our keynote presenter.
In describing her keynote, “Telling Stories of Jesus,” she notes that “Christians often struggle to talk about Jesus, especially as our culture grows more diverse and people increasingly question the need for faith. Yet, at the center of every Christian’s story is the story of Jesus – who we have experienced him to be and how we have lived our lives in relation to his.” Her workshop is entitled “Deeper Dive with Diana Butler Bass” and will be an opportunity for questions and conversation about the keynote, trends in religion, generational changes regarding faith, and the need to develop congregations as communities of shaping and sharing stories.
Diana Butler Bass is the author of Grounded: Finding God in the World – A Spiritual Revolution. Her next book, Freeing Jesus: Rediscovering Jesus as a Friend, Teacher, Savior, Lord, Way, and Presence, will be available in March. You can find more information about Diana Butler Bass on her website.
There will be a number of other workshops offered in addition to the one by Bass. There will be opportunities for church treasurers and clerks of sessions in small churches to learn more about their responsibilities. Come, learn more about being an intergenerational church, the spiritual life and responsibilities of ruling elders, the life of the presbytery, or next year’s Presbyterian Women Bible Study. In addition to using your minds, there will be workshops in which to play and/or bring your knitting or crocheting, to name a few.
Participants are welcome to join in the whole day or just particular workshops in which they are interested. The cost will be $20/person or $30/household. The early registration deadline is Thursday, March 11; workshops may be cancelled based on low early registration numbers. The final registration deadline is Wednesday, March 17. Log-in information will be sent to registered participants on Thursday, March 18.
