After much thought and prayer, the PCUSA Office of Presbyterian Youth and Triennium has reached the difficult decision of cancelling the 2022 Presbyterian Youth Triennium, which was to be held in July. An email sent to registrars earlier this month reads, in part, “This is out of a deep desire to prioritize the safety and health of our participants and their communities. … We also want to do justice to what is significant and wonderful about Triennium, as well as our 2022 theme.”
New this summer was to be “PYT Beyond,” which was to focus on intentionally carrying on the theme after the event in Indianapolis concluded. The planners and leaders are continuing work on this aspect, only now it will be a lead-up to the next PYT in 2025. They are also looking at a Young Adult track for 2025, which will offer the opportunity for youth who aren’t able to experience PYT this summer to do so after they have finished high school.
