Faith Climate Action Week – April 17-26

This year, PC(USA) is joining Interfaith Power & Light to promote Faith Climate Action Week, which is IPL’s annual 10-day program of climate-themed worship services and sermons. This year’s theme, Love Made Visible: Engaging in Sacred Activism, aims to protect the people we love and care about who are most impacted by climate change. Earth Day Sunday resources from Creation Justice Ministries

This year, Creation Justice Ministries has chosen The Fierce Urgency of NOW as their Earth Day Sunday theme. Here you can download free Christian education materials to equip faith communities to protect, restore, and  more rightly share God’s creation, and here is their Earth Day Sunday Facebook event, where you can connect with other faith leaders and congregations who are planning activities.

Pizza Garden seed kits

Interfaith Power & Light is offering organic, heirloom, non-GMO Pizza Garden seed kits at CoolHarvest, a food, faith and climate community. Each kit includes all you’ll need to create your own pizza toppings – basil, oregano and thyme; California Wonder sweet peppers, Parade bunching onions, spinach, San Marzano tomatillos, yellow pear tomatoes and cayenne hot peppers. Also included are links to a seed-saving guide and companion web resources, where you can download directions to build a small raised garden bed or rain barrel, access zone maps to know the best time to plant, find examples of model faith community gardens, printable fact sheets about the food-faith-climate connection, and more. This helpful guide has a variety of tips on going green. You can learn about everything from the frugal basics (like how to save money by going green and ways to cut your carbon footprint) to easy ways parents can teach their children to be eco-friendly, as well as tips to reduce water usage at home and to landscape and garden sustainably.
