The Rev. Will E. Myers has been named campus minister of the Presbyterian Student Fellowship at West Virginia University in Morgantown.
Myers, 28, will assume leadership of the ministry on July 17, said Tina Vial, president of the Westminster Foundation of West Virginia, a 501(c)(3) organization that has provided campus ministry to state-supported colleges and universities for more than a century.
“I’m looking forward to working with PSF to continue the cultivation of a community where questions can be asked, friendships made, and faith explored,” Myers said.
Myers holds a bachelor of arts degree in peace and justice studies from Wartburg College and a masters of divinity from Princeton Theological Seminary. He has served as pastor of Frenchtown Presbyterian Church in Frenchtown, NJ, and was active in social justice organizations as a student at Princeton.
“We’re excited about the gifts Will brings to WVU’s campus ministry,” Vial said. “He brings to the program a heart for education and a dedication to providing a welcoming space for all who are looking to explore what faith means for them. The PSF has a long history of being a safe and inclusive place for everyone, regardless of sexuality, gender identity, ethnicity, socio-economic, or faith background. We’re grateful that Will has answered God’s call to carry that tradition and commitment into the future with us.”
In addition to leading PSF, Myers will serve as executive director of Harless Center, a ministry of First Presbyterian Church of Morgantown located at Central Place apartments on Baird Street.
Myers, and his wife, Nimmi, and son, Billy, reside in Morgantown.
In addition to WVU, the Westminster Foundation provides full-time campus ministry at Marshall University and supports ministries at West Liberty University, Fairmont State University, Pierpont Technical and Community College, and others. It is housed at the historic Rogers House (Campus Ministry Center) on Willey Street in Morgantown.
